Where can I buy Bait?
Forster has several retail outlets for supplying bait. The Red Spot Boat Shed near Forster Dive Centre provides bait, mullet, worms, prawns and squid. Any of the boat sheds that run along Little Street supply bait. For up to date conditions and expert advice and all your tackle requirements see Lloyd at Great Lakes Tackle near BI-LO in Tuncurry.

Where is the best place to catch fish?
Forster Beach Holiday Park is next to Forster Main Beach and the Forster Breakwall which are both ideal fishing spots. If you plan on hiring a boat the oyster leases are a great spot for catching Bream and Luderick. Flathead can also be found throughout Wallis Lake. No need to go miles upstream, some of the best Flathead can be found in shallow water, making it safe and fun for the kids. Look for weed beds with a bit of current running past it. If there happens to be some deep water nearby all the better.

Whiting also show up throughout the year over the sand flats. Fishing with light gear is the way to go. Drifting seems to be the most popular way to pick up a feed, but don't disregard walking the sand flats with fresh bait or lures to catch all of the above.

Beach fishing is very popular with some of the best beaches north and south of Forster on the east coast of Australia. Tailor, Mulloway, Bream, Flathead, Salmon, Whiting and a host of other species are available. Deep Sea fisho's will find our Marina facilities and community boat ramp first class and within 200 meters of the park giving you access to the ocean, within 300 metres of the ramp. Charter boat operators are close at hand with both Ocean Quest (0427 777 139) and Double D (0411 794 078) bringing home the goods on most days. Both within walking distance from the Park. Go to our Fishing Report to find out what's being caught this week.

What is the best time?
The best opportunities are the run out tide or the top of the tide, depending on what you are chasing but the runout seem's to be the most popular time. Be aware that the run out tide can be very strong and caution should be taken at all times when on the water.Try and put in time around late afternoon or early morning to maximise your chances.
