Park Deposits & Refunds Policies


As from 1st January 2009, the following rules shall apply to all bookings made after this date, in all Great Lakes Council caravan parks:

DEPOSITS

Peak and Off Peak Periods (December/January, Easter and September/October school holidays):
  • Cabins/Vans: 25% of total cost of booking including GST with a minimum of $250 being payable
  • Sites: 25% of total cost of booking including GST with a minimum of $150 being payable
All Other Periods:
  • Cabins/Vans: First two night's accommodation charge including GST
  • Sites: First two night's accommodation charge including GST
Bookings Made by Phone on Day of Arrival
  • As above, payment to be made by credit card (credit card number to be requested at time of booking)
  • Payment can be made by Visa or MasterCard - other cards are not accepted

PAYMENT OF FEES

Peak Period (December/January school holidays):
  • All fees to be paid in full prior to or no later than 30th October
Off Peak Period (Easter/October school holidays):
  • All fees to be paid in full prior to or no later than 1st March (Easter holiday period) and 1st September (October holiday period)
All Other Times
  • Outside peak and off peak periods fees may be paid weekly in advance where the customer's period of stay exceeds two weeks. For stays of less than two weeks all fees must be paid in full upon arrival.

Any fees not paid in full in accordance with the above provisions shall result in forfeiture of the booking and any deposit previously made in respect of the booking. Council shall be entitled to rebook the relevant site/cabin to another party.

Payment Options

Council will accept the following methods for payments of deposit or any fees due:
  • Credit card (Visa, MasterCard) in person or over telephone
  • Cheque
  • Cash
  • Eftpos

Please note that all cheques are subject to clearance. Council and park management do not offer payment by direct credit or direct debit.

GENERAL

  • Preference in respect of site/cabin bookings for the ensuing year shall be given to customers who have a booking for the current year, and any such bookings for the following year's school holiday periods (peak and off peak seasons) must be made prior to departure and deposits paid within 14 days of departure.
  • Deposits and/or bookings will not be taken in respect of periods of more than twelve (12) months in advance.
  • Preference shall be given to weekly bookings in respect of pre-booked accommodation during peak and off-peak periods (school holiday periods of Dec/Jan, Easter and Sept/Oct).

REFUNDS

  • A full refund of deposit will be made if:
    • Booking cancelled by Great Lakes Council;
    • Booking cancelled by tenant due to a change in park rules by Great Lakes Council
  • Council has a no refund policy in respect of bookings made that relate to the peak and off peak seasons. However, where cancellations are provided in writing at least one month in advance an offer can be made by park management to transfer the booking and deposit paid (grant a credit) to a mutually convenient date within the ensuing twelve month period. No credit shall be applied to a period outside of the ensuing twelve month period.
  • Refunds where booking cancelled by tenant in respect of any other period will be as per the following:
    • 50% of deposit if booking cancelled in writing at least one month prior.
    • No refund of deposit if booking cancelled less than one month prior.
    • In exceptional circumstances, Council at its absolute discretion may consider a refund of 50% of the deposit where cancellation is made less than one month prior. NB Inclement weather, acts of god and work commitments are not considered to be "exceptional circumstances".
    • Where cancellations are provided in writing at least one month in advance an offer can be made by park management to transfer the booking and deposit paid (grant a credit) to a mutually convenient date within the ensuing twelve month period. No credit shall be applied to a period outside of the ensuing twelve month period.
  • If a customer is forced to leave the park prior to the finalisation of their booking due to circumstances beyond their control, such as bereavement and ill health:
    • A full refund of the balance of fees paid (less an administration fee of $50) will be made for the period the customer will not be at the park (proof of circumstance will be required to obtain a full refund); or
    • The balance of fees paid may be transferred to a future booking within the next twelve month period if mutually acceptable to both the customer and the park management
